Absalom Benton Whitaker was a cotton planter with plantations in Halifax County, N.C., and Leon County, Fla. The collection includescattered letters, receipts, and accounts relating to Whitaker's cotton plantations near Enfield, Halifax County, N.C., and Miccosukee, Leon County, Fla. Also included are items relating to the estate of John Whitaker (fl. 1800), of which Absalom Benton Whitaker was co-executor with James Whitaker (d. 1829).
